The sabbath commandment, twice

The fourth commandment as Exodus gives it and as Deuteronomy gives it. The days are counted identically; the words around them are not. One says remember, the other keep; one rests God on the seventh day, the other rests the servant; one grounds the day in creation, the other in the exodus. Each word is checked present, or absent, in the verses cited.

  • Every word marked present or absent is checked against the tokens of the verses cited beside it by tests/test_correlations.py.
  • Which wording is earlier, and why the two differ, is a question of composition history that neither text answers; the entry does not take a side.
