The Passover lamb

Exodus 12 beside the death of Jesus, with the linking verse printed on every row that has one. Four rows carry a New Testament verse that cites the Passover directly. The rest are read that way by a long tradition and are drawn without an arrow, because no verse makes the connection.

Explicit: A later verse makes this link, and it is printed on the arrow.

The Passover lamb. Explicit — a later text makes this connection, and the verse that makes it is printed on the arrow.

Where the sources disagree: which day the death falls on. Both are shown; neither is resolved.

  • John 19:14 — the day of preparation of the Passover, about the sixth hour — the lambs not yet killed
  • Mark 14:12 — on the first day of Unleavened Bread, when they sacrificed the Passover lamb, the supper is the Passover meal
